Coming to Unity Day 2009 – “Plan B”, an artistic contemporary smooth jazz band, consists of five of Philadelphia’s finest musicians. The group began in 1997 with Dale Harris (leader) on bass guitar, Tom Smith on keyboards, Ray Robinson on drums, Mike Cummings on guitar and most recently added Yinka Moore on
percussion.

In the late 90’s the band decided to take things serious and truly be one of the best jazz bands and recording artists coming from the Philadelphia area. Since then they have appeared regularly at most of Philadelphia’s top jazz venues and concerts – Zanzibar Blue, Charlie B’s, Club Dimani, Manayunk Brewery, North by Northwest, The Liacorus Center, The Wachovia Center, The Borgata Hotel and Casino,

Ceasars Hotel, Taylors, O’Hara’s, The Inner Circle, The Peoples Festival, The West Oak Lane Jazz Festival, Warm Daddys, The Flying Fishbone, Stinger Square Festival, Penns Landing and more in the years to come. Currently “Plan B” is the official house band of Philadelphia’s top smooth jazz radio station WJJZ
97.5 FM. They have also recorded, produced and released their debut CD titled “If U Only Nu” on Philly Groove Music/Records in 2007.

Innovative is the word best describing their style and approach to music. “Plan B” is constantly incorporating new dynamics and energetic expressions into their songs. Over the past 10 years “Plan B” has developed their own unique sound and have a groove that is unsurpassed. Whether they are performing a
popular cover tune or some of their highly requested originals, each time you hear them play they leave you hungry for more. What makes them unique from other Smooth Jazz groups is their unique ability to encompass R&B, jazz, funk, reggae, fusion and the magical elements which allow their energy to flow,
ultimately embracing the mind, body and spirit of each listener.
